Dave President & Founder

David A. Ricard

President/Founder

About

As President and Founder of Wasatch Truss, I am responsible for the overall Business health, goals and objectives. I work to support and grow Wasatch Truss’ long term vision by building the very best team to support our amazing Customers. I promote long term success for my business and my customers’ businesses. I work to create a stable and enjoyable environment for the long-term success of my employees. I also purchase all of the Lumber navigating the very unstable commodity market. It is my goal to be able to procure the very best lumber to provide the highest quality Trusses in our market.

I started out as a Custom Home Framer. The crew I worked with had many very experienced Framers. We all pitched in to do whatever it took to build the homes as efficiently as possible. I transitioned from a framer into a Truss Salesman working for a very small “Truss Brokerage” company. I was fortunate to form a loyal Customer base there. Due to the Great Financial crisis in 2008 many truss suppliers were put out of business. As a broker I was left without the ability to provide for my customers’ needs as they required. In the beginning of 2011, an opportunity to start a truss manufacturing company of my own was presented. I consulted a few of my loyal customers and decided to go forward. In the beginning it was very rough sorting through different obstacles involved in starting a business. I was able to sort through Employees, Partners and Vendors to find the very best people for the right positions to provide the very best product my customers deserve. I have been successful in creating a company by surrounding myself with awesome professionals who aren’t afraid to do what needs to be done to achieve the best product for our customers. I was blessed to have many talented teachers and mentors over the years to take my business to be the success it is today. Today Wasatch Truss is the leading supplier in Utah and the surrounding area. Wasatch Truss provides High Quality Roof and Floor Trusses at High Quantity at a fair price.

When I’m not working my passion is still Work. Building, gardening, growing trees, hiking, fishing, studying history, barbecuing and doing anything else my lovely wife Karli and my 3 daughters need.

Our Roots

Our owner, David Ricard, started his career as a construction laborer for a commercial contractor. He eventually found his passion as a carpenter, framing and doing finish work on large custom homes. Later he focused on framing custom homes solely, working with a team of experienced framers, he learned how to build homes as efficiently as possible through teamwork.

David moved on from framing to work as a salesman for a small truss brokerage company. It was there that he built a loyal customer base. David was able to integrate his framing experience into trusses. It was by being “Framer Friendly” he was able to build a loyal Customer Base. When the “Great Financial Crisis” hit in 2008 and many truss suppliers went out of business, he could no longer meet his customers’ needs. He struggled along with his customers for several years until the opportunity to start his own truss manufacturing company arose.

In 2011, with the support of his loyal customer base and others, David founded Wasatch Truss. Initially Wasatch Truss was a very small company with limited capabilities, older outdated equipment, space but plenty of vision. In 2013 he made a huge leap and purchased a much larger property and invested in new equipment. This expansion changed the future for Wasatch Truss, its Customers and Employees. Since then, he has continued to invest back into the company by hiring the most experienced experts and state of the art equipment to maintain the reputation of the best truss manufacturer in Utah.
